Goomeri to Calliope River

26 June 2016

Left Wamuran early, all the revellers were still asleep.  Headed west through Kilcoy and Yarraman heading for Goomeri.  We stopped in at the Kinbombi Falls for lunch and Ferg went for a walk to the falls.

We stayed at the Goomeri Bush Camp ($10p/n).  Great spot, big open grassed sites overlooking a creek.

27th-28th June 2016

We had two free nights staying at RV Homebase in Maryborough and caught up with our friends, Brian and Trish.  Had a nice couple of days, even managed to get a game of bowls at Urangun Bowls Club.

29th June 2016

On the road again, only made it as far as Gin Gin.  Stopped for lunch and decided to stay for the rest of the day.  Great free camp, lots of vans rolled in from 2pm onwards.  Got pretty crowded but we had a good spot.  Had a lovely happy hour with a nice couple from Buderim.

30th June 2016

Got on the road by 9am, heading north. Stopped at Miriamvale for supplies and fuel then on to Calliope River free camp.  Another amazing spot.  As we arrived mid morning we had the pick of the spots available.  Lovely open grassy area overlooking a lagoon.  Most of the river campsites were quite dusty and well used so we opted for the grass.  Camping is available on both sides of the river.

Surprise 60th

25 June 2016

Off to Wamuran to surprise Coral and Mick for their 60th wedding anniversary.  We arrived at their daughters place at 2pm and found a great spot for the van out the back overlooking the lagoon.

We wandered down to the party at 3pm.  Coral and Mick were overwhelmed with all their Kookaburra friends being there.  It was a great surprise.  Their family put on a fabulous evening, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Thank you Melissa, Phil, Kerry and Don.

New Van

23rd June 2016

Well the time has finally arrived!  We received our new van, an Option RV Tornado on 1st of June and we set off today for destinations unknown. Only thing planned is we are heading north towards the warmth.

So of course our first night away is South, go figure!!  We thought it would be a good idea to have our first few nights close to home in case of problems with the van.  We decided to stay two nights at the Esk Caravan Park for our trial run.

Great spot, very clean well run park.  Exceptional service from the owners.

24 June 2016

Visited Toogoolawah today, a small town just north of Esk.  The fortnightly cattle sales were on at the local saleyards. It was interesting hearing the auctioneer selling the lots.
