Back at Myrtle Park Campground for a few days, catching up with good friends Bill and June. We found a lovely site on the river again. We enjoyed the wildlife, little blue wrens bouncing around on the ground while the platypus swam by in the river. It was great sitting around the fire each night.
We did a day trip to Ben Lomond National Park and got to drive up the famous Jacobs Ladder road. It was very steep, snaking up the mountain with sheer drops over the side. I was glad when we reached the top. Phew!! The views were amazing and well worth the drive up.

We stopped at the ski village and had a walk among the chalets. The wildflowers were stunning.

On the way home we saw four echidnas along the road. The wildlife is abundant here.
Next day we did a drive to Mt Barrow, Hollybank Forest and Lillydale. The drive up to Mt Barrow was similar to Jacobs Ladder but a lot scarier. The road was very narrow, lucky we didn't meet anyone coming down as there was nowhere we could have passed. But once again the view was absolutely amazing. It felt like we were on top of the world.

We stopped at the bottom of the mountain for a cuppa and some of Bills homemade damper, then travelled on to Hollybank Forest and enjoyed a lovely stroll through the forest.
