North East Tassie

1st - 4th February 2017

Leaving Launceston we headed east stopping overnight on the 1st at Myrtle Creek Campground.  Absolutely stunning camp right beside the creek.  We even saw a platypus frolicking in the rapids.

Moving on through the mountains and lovely dairy country we ended up at a free camp along the river in Derby.  We did a scenic drive through Ledgerwood and Ringarooma then up to Mt Victoria State Forest to see Ralph Falls.  The circuit walk through the grasslands and rainforest was stunning.

Leaving Derby on the 3rd we headed down to St Helens on the east coast.  There were caravans and motorhomes everywhere.  Too busy for our liking so back up into the mountains to St Marys.  We decided to base ourselves here for a couple of days.  We did a drive up to the Bay of Fires looking for a campsite but it was full to the brim with vans. Stunning beachs and water, can understand why so full.

We managed to get a great game of social bowls at St Helen's Bowls Club.  Good little club and very nice locals.
